let's step outside: the before
As we all know, what's on the inside matters infinitely more than what's on the outside. But we also know that in real estate, curb appeal is important. The exterior of your home is it's first and lasting impression.
I'll also admit, we STILL haven't taken professional interior photos of our home... and so today I'm going to start talking about what's on the outside. The teaser for the interior before and afters has lasted far longer than ever intended. And I will share them as soon as I have them - promise! But until then, let's talk landscaping :)
We started Phase I (of IV) of our landscaping project last month. Here's what we're anticipating:
- Phase I: hardscape, bed prep, lighting installation
- Phase II: plantings, boulder steps
- Phase III: basketball court (yep, that's right...)
- Phase IV: driveway
Here are some of the before photos of each section:

My best advice when it comes to landscaping is to hire a landscape design firm and work closely with them to plan out your project to your every specification. Lay out your must haves (for us it was low maintenance, useful, attractive outdoor spaces), and expect to go through several design iterations before you sign off on a plan. But don't step back then. Stay involved in the project through each phase, ask questions, raise concerns, and provide feedback.
As each phase wraps up, I'll be sharing updates. Our team finished Phase I a few days ago, so look out for hardscape, bed prep, and lighting photos later this week!
